Week 5

I've been to the doctor's and had several blood tests to verify I was pregnant. They also had to do follow up tests to make sure that the hormone levels were progressing as they should. Because I had a tubal reversal, they were concerned that the pregnancy might have stayed in the tube. This worries us a bit, but I try to think positive and have faith.

The baby, which is now called an embryo, has gone through so many changes. Once just a cluster of cells, it now starts to take on human characteristics. It is nearly 10,000 times larger that when he/she was just a single cell. As shown in the picture below, the embryo looks a little like something from a sci-fi movie, but as the baby grows these things will take on their rightful proportions. By the 21st day, the heart starts beating and brain waves are present.
