I cannot imagine doing anything purposely to harm the new life growing inside me. Even though modern science has long since proven that life begins at conception, still we turn a blind eye and ear to the horrors of abortion. We read in the papers of a man being charged for murder who caused a woman to miscarry in a car accident, or stories of women being jailed for using drugs during pregnancy and delivering babies addicted to crack. Meanwhile across town a man or woman can purposely take the lives of other women's babies without repercussion. It goes against all rational sense to believe that a baby is a baby only because it's wanted, but somehow is only a blob of tissue if it's not wanted. Nature does not make that distinction and neither should we. Just because a child is in the womb and cannot be seen does not take away his/her humanity. If I close my eyes, I can't see you either. Does that mean you stop being human? I have watched friends and loved ones grieve for babies lost to miscarriage, children who are often much younger than those aborted every day by women across the world. I have attended funerals for the tiny little ones born before their time and wish that each woman who considers an abortion could have the chance to see the perfect child being laid to rest, born too soon but still very much a human being. For me it is not just a religious issue, it is a human rights issue. The unborn person should have as much right to live as those of us already born. For the record, and I believe that I speak for the majority of those who are against abortion, we do not condone the use of violence against those who support, receive or provide abortions. We value all human life, not just that of the unborn. If you are interested in learning more about this controversial subject, here are some links that you should check out. Some are pretty graphic, but then this is not a subject you can do justice to without showing the reality of it as well.
